Skuffet over World Sailing

Det danske seilforbundet vil at World Sailing skal komme på banen om krigen mellom Russland og Ukraina, og er skuffet over responsen.

–Vi er skuffet over World Sailings likegyldige svar som ikke gjenspeiler den alvorlige situasjonen vi stå oppe i sier formannen i Dansk Sejlunion, Line Markert.

Vi er i dialog med nordiske og baltiske kollegaer om å legge pres på World Sailing for å komme med et sterkere uttalelse for å markere en sterkere posisjon. Vi og alle andre forbund er satt i en umulig posisjon, og det alvor håper jeg går opp for World Sailing, sier Markert.

Dansk Sejlunion savner en føring fra World Sailing om hvordan seilforeninger skal håndtere regattaer hvor det er påmeldt seilere fra Russland og Hvitrussland. Heller ikke hva seilere skal gjøre som vil møte russiske seilere på internasjonale regattaer.

KNS vil møte dette problemet til sommeren hvor det så langt er påmeldt en russisk båt til ORCi EM på Hankø.

World Sailing Statement Monday 28 February 2022

World Sailing is very concerned about the situation in Ukraine and we are troubled about the safety of our friends in the Ukrainian sailing community.

Sport can be a force for good, bringing competitors from around the world together, united by the values of equality, inclusion, respect and fairness.

World Sailing joins many international sports organisations calling for an immediate end to all hostilities and a resumption of dialogue for a peaceful resolution in place of military action.

There are no World Sailing organised regattas planned to be held in Russia or Belarus in 2022, and the Executive Board are supporting the relocation of training and education events in Russia.

We remain in contact with all our Member National Authorities to offer our support at this incredibly difficult time.
